I’m happy to share that our guest room is finally done! There wasn’t anything wrong with what it looked like before but I wanted a refresh and wanted to break up some of the blue that we have throughout the house.

Paint
At first, I painted the whole room Sea Salt by Sherwin Williams. It’s such a pretty color but it wasn’t pulling how I wanted it to in the room. I felt like we needed a deeper tone and so Oyster Bay by Sherwin Williams ended up being the perfect balance. It’s a little more gray looking in the morning and then pulls more green throughout the day because of how the sun shines on that side of our house.
Bedding
I’m very happy with how the bedding and headboard turned out. I think the secret to bedding is layering and using two duvet inserts.

The layers used:
- Sheets – these green sheets from Amazon are a great price and soft.
- Duvet – I had this same duvet in blue for the previous guest room and it held up great for years which is why I went with the same brand again. It looks nice, feels great, and washes well.
- Quilt – I’m obsessed with this quilt from Magnolia. The quality is excellent and the pattern is so beautiful. It pairs great with the Oyster Bay walls.
- Bolster Accent Pillow – I’ve wanted a reason to by this pillow from Lulu & Georgia for a while and I’m so glad I finally found a room for it.
- Floral Accent Pillows – the print on these is really pretty. I got 18×18 covers and then 20×20 inserts. The trick to throw/accent pillows is to get your covers about 2 inches smaller than your inserts.
Decor
I scoured the internet for the perfect nightstand option and was happy to stumble upon this nightstand from Wayfair. It’s solid wood and has the outlets on the back which are so convenient. Then, on top, I found this black ceramic lamp base and scalloped lamp shade from World Market.

The curtains came from Amazon and I love the additional pattern they add to the room. The headboard also came from Amazon as well as the frame that I put this Etsy digital print into. (Speaking of wall art from Etsy…I wrote a full blog post about that last week – click here to read.)

This olive tree has actually lived in my office for the past year but I decided to bring it into the guest room. I ordered a new black planter for it and put fake moss around the tree to make it look more real.

And finally, I replaced all the outlet and light switch covers in the room. They needed a refresh and I love the character that these bronze covers bring. It’s such an easy and cheap way to elevate a space.
