Finished: The Office/Closet

The office/closet project is finished! Well..it’s “finshed-ish”…there are still some final touches I want to make like adding more artwork and finding a new end table next to my lounging chair. Overall though, the room is done and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. Read more about the “why” behind the project and what the initial plans were in my previous post here.

The color of the walls is Blustery Sky by Sherwin Williams and the built-ins were painted the same color. I bought the built-ins from Ikea to keep costs down and added antique brass cabinet pulls from Amazon. The desk is from Ashley Home Furniture and I bought my desk chair from Amazon years ago. Sam found the picture above my desk at Hobby Lobby earlier this year and the olive tree in the white planter are both from Amazon. One of my favorite things about my desk area is the Loloi rug that anchors the space and pulls different colors from the room together. As a side note, I love Loloi rugs…I have 3 of them in our house and they’re great quality.

I wanted to have different seating options for when I don’t feel like sitting at my desk during the day. This rust velvet loveseat from World Market is perfect. It’s comfy and adds an extra pop of color. I found the lumbar pillow at the end of an aisle at Target and I love how the blue contrasts against the rust loveseat. I’ve had the lounging chair and ottoman for a couple years now – the chair came from Ashley Home Furniture and the ottoman was a random Home Goods find as well as the floor lamp.

I’m obsessed with the vanity dresser. I scored this pretty lady off of Facebook Marketplace after MONTHS of scouring the internet and local stores. I wanted a specific look that was timeless. Initially I wanted to put a gold ornate mirror on top but I ended up using a vintage mirror that was passed down to me from my parents.

Having a new office separate from our “main living space” is wonderful but having a bigger closet takes the cake as the best part of this project. The wallpaper is from Wayfair and it was my first experience putting up pre-pasted wallpaper. It was actually super easy. You literally cut your pieces, roll some water on the back of them, then stick them on the wall. They give you a lot of “forgiveness” so you can move them around the wall to align them properly. I was super intimidated to do this at first and watched a zillion Youtube videos. I was shocked at how easy it was to do!

The curtain rods are from Amazon and the mirror is from Kirklands. I struggled to find a big gold mirror that wasn’t overly expensive. I ended up buying a mirror from Kirklands because it looked close enough to what I wanted and there was a big sale going on so I bought it, painted the frame gold, and called it a day.

Super happy to have this new office and closet space. Special thanks to my sister-in-law and best friend, Sam, for helping me.
