Nursery

We started working on our son’s nursery back in March and we were almost done with it by the end of April/early May…but life threw some big hurdles for us and it delayed us from putting the final touches on the room.

I’m happy to say that the nursery is finally done! We were waiting on some pictures and other decor items to finish things up. It’s the prettiest room in the house. Special thanks to my sister-in-law, Sam Hasler, and my husband for helping put everything together.

Now…I’m excited to share all the details. If you’d like to see the original plans of the nursery project, click here. Decor/furniture items are linked at the bottom of this post.

The Before

Here are the before pictures. This room was previously used as a guest room and somehow always ended up as a “catch-all” room. I didn’t get pictures of what it looked like as a guest room so these pictures are of the room basically all cleared out before we started to paint.

Paint

We painted the walls Upward by Sherwin Williams which is also their current color of the year. I wanted the walls to be a very soft blue. This ended up being the perfect color.

Furniture

The glider in the nursery actually came from my office. I bought it a couple years ago from Ashley Furniture and didn’t know it was a glider at the time. The ottoman from Birch Lane ended up pairing well with it. I kept seeing ads for the ottoman for what felt like forever. I couldn’t find anything else that matched my vision so it was the obvious one to choose. The pattern is so pretty and the quality is great. Then, the side table is from Amazon. I went with this side table because the wood tone matched the dresser and I liked how the shape of it is different than what you traditionally see.

I was hoping that the finish on the crib would be shinier but I’ve gotten used to how it looks and I’m happy with the crib we chose. We wanted to stick with gold since we had already decided on gold accents throughout the room.

The dresser is absolutely beautiful in person. I bought it from Perigold and it’s excellent quality. I wanted something that looked timeless, offered a lot of storage space, and could be moved into any room in the future. This dresser checked all of those boxes! The lamp on top of the dresser came from Amazon and the mirror is from my childhood room that used to be on my vanity.

This rocker and book are a special touch to the nursery. The rocker is over a hundred years old and my grandpa gifted it to me when I was young. It had belonged to his dad when he was a kid. My parents had it restored so we could put it in Greyson’s room. The book on top of the rocker was a shower gift from my sister. We had this book growing up and it has some of the best stories in it. It was my favorite when I was a kid.

Artwork

Lastly…let’s be real. Artwork and frames can be super expensive. I like to hunt down frames at Goodwill or find discounted ones at stores. The set of frames came from Amazon then the other two were random finds at Home Goods.
